A friend of mine is professional trainer.  She consistently is working on training routines and programs for her clients.  We were visiting awhile back and I asked her why she spent so much time creating tailored routines for each individual client.  She was adement that our muscles need trained with varying types of exercises.  The more you stretch and use your muscles differently the stronger and leaner they will be.  This same principle works for the human mind.  In stretching my mind, I picked up a book called Mindset…The New Psychology of Success by Dweck.  Although not optometry specific, this book is directly related to how change and growth occur in optometry.  When you have a successful practice, your practice will experience growth.  When growth occurs, your mindset for the way things used to be, cannot stay fixed.  Your mindset must be set to see things in different ways, a growth mindset.  If you are going through major change in your optometry practice consider stretching your mind and picking this book up.
